1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using StudBud ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

StudBud is an AI-powered study assistant that connects to your Google Classroom account to sync course content and allow you to ask questions about it. The Service provides AI-generated answers with citations to your course materials. StudBud accesses your Google data in read-only mode and cannot modify, submit, or delete anything in your Google Classroom, Google Drive, or Google Calendar.

3. Account and Authentication

  • You must sign in with a valid Google account to use StudBud.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.
  • You grant StudBud permission to access your Google Classroom, Drive, and Calendar data in read-only mode when you sign in and authorize the requested permissions.
  • You may revoke access at any time by deleting your account in Settings or by removing StudBud from your Google account permissions.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Use the Service to plagiarize or submit AI-generated content as your own original work in violation of your institution's academic integrity policies
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service

5. AI-Generated Content

  • StudBud uses AI (powered by OpenAI) to generate answers based on your course content. AI-generated responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete information.
  • StudBud is a study aid, not a substitute for reading your course materials, attending class, or completing your own work.
  • You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any AI-generated content before relying on it.
  • You are responsible for complying with your institution's academic integrity policies when using AI-generated content.

6. Intellectual Property

The course content synced from your Google Classroom belongs to you and your institution. StudBud does not claim ownership of your course data.

The StudBud application, its design, code, and branding are the property of the developer. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the application without permission.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

8. Data Deletion

You may delete all your data at any time from the Settings page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. It removes your account, all synced course content, extracted text, search embeddings, and revokes StudBud's access to your Google account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Service Availability

StudBud is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudBud and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, academic outcomes, or any reliance on AI-generated content. The Service is a study tool and is not responsible for academic performance or decisions made based on its output.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI-generated responses will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your data from the Settings page.

14. Google API Services

StudBud's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. StudBud is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
